নিষ্ঠুর আচরণ ও শারীরিক নির্যাতনে শিকার যে না হয় মানুষ, উন্নত সেবা প্রদানে পুলিশ কর্মকর্তাদের প্রতি আইজিপির নির্দেশ

বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে আরো বলা হয়েছে, আইজিপি তাঁর পাঁচ নির্দেশনার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করে বলেন, জনগণের প্রতি নিষ্ঠুর আচরণ ও শারীরিক নির্যাতন করা থেকে বেরিয়ে আসতে হবে। আইন প্রয়োগে আইনি সক্ষমতা ব্যবহার করতে হবে। মানুষের সাথে ভালো আচরণ করতে হবে। ভালো কাজ করলে মানুষ যে প্রশংসা করে তার প্রমাণ আমরা করোনাকালে দেখেছি। মাদকের বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের সকলকে ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে লড়াই করে দেশকে মাদকমুক্ত করতে হবে। পুলিশি সেবা দেশের জনগণের দোরগোড়ায় পৌঁছে দেয়ার লক্ষ্যে সারাদেশকে ৬ হাজার ৯১২টি বিটে ভাগ করে ‘বিট পুলিশিং’ কার্যক্রম চালু করা হয়েছে। পুলিশ সদস্যদেরকে দুর্নীতিমুক্ত থাকতে হবে। বর্তমানে প্রচলিত কল্যাণের ধারনা থেকে বেরিয়ে পুলিশ সদস্যদের চাকুরিকালীন এবং বৃহত্তর কল্যাণের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।

পুলিশিংয়ের প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রে সুপারভিশন ও মনিটরিং বাড়িয়ে জনগণকে দ্রুততম সময়ে উন্নত সেবা প্রদানের জন্য পুলিশ কর্মকর্তাদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন ইন্সপেক্টর জেনারেল অব পুলিশ (আইজিপি) বাংলাদেশ ড. বেনজীর আহমেদ বিপিএম (বার)।

উপস্থিত পুলিশ কর্মকর্তাদেরকে 'ফিউচার লিডার্স' আখ্যায?িত করে আইজিপি বলেন, ‘আমরা অনেক দূরে এসেছি, বাংলাদেশ পুলিশকে বহুদূর নিয়ে যেতে হবে। দেশ ও দেশের জনগণকে সেবা দেয়ার চেতনা নিয়ে পেশাদারিত্বের সাথে কাজ করতে হবে। গর্ব নিয়ে চাকরি করতে হবে, চাকরিতে 'প্রাইড' নিয়ে আসতে হবে।’
ডিএমপিকে 'মিরর অব বাংলাদেশ পুলিশ' অভিহিত করে আইজিপি বলেন, এই ইউনিটের গুরুত্ব উপলব্ধি করে দায?িত্ব পালন করতে হবে।

আইজিপি বলেন, একটি সুশৃঙ্খল বাহিনী হিসেবে পুলিশ সদস্যদের শৃঙ্খলার ওপর বিশেষ গুরুত্ব দিতে হবে। শৃঙ্খলার সাথে ওয়েলফেয়ারকে গুলিয়ে ফেলা যাবে না।

Calling the police officers present 'Future Leaders', the IGP said,' We have come a long way, Bangladesh Police has to be taken far. Calling the DMP a 'mirror of Bangladesh Police', the IGP said, "We have to realize the importance of this unit and fulfill our responsibilities."

The IGP said that as an orderly force, the police members should pay special attention to discipline. Welfare cannot be confused with discipline.
