According to sources, the ACC found that not only illegal wealth acquisition, but also Selim Mollah has been accused of being involved in the kidnapping cycle. Although a civil servant, Selim Molla is the vice-president of Harirampur Upazila Awami League in Manikganj. Besides, his son Rajibul Hasan alias Rajiv is the general secretary of Chhatra League. In the face of this political identity, they both led a kidnapping cycle. Other members of the cycle are also involved in the politics of the Awami League and its organization. RAB arrested four persons from Manikganj last Sunday, including Selim Mollah.

According to ACC sources, Selim owns several crores of land in the vicinity including Kalikapur Mouza, West Bandutia Mouza, Raniadi Mouza and Kamaragona Mouza of Harirampur Upazila. He bought a large number of properties in the name of first wife Parveen Akhter and second wife Hafiza Khan. He served as a Senior Assistant Secretary in the area even though he was employed in a small government position. The owner of the three-story house, multi-story building, expensive primo car, minibus, truck and nearly half a million have become a forest.

It is learned that for four to five years he was involved in the Awami League and was influencing the area. He is also the chairman of the management committee of the local Jhitka Anandmohan High School. Under the influence of Selim, the school’s own eight marriages of landfilled the land and allocated more than two and a half hundred shops and took home several million takas.
